Our History
In September 2021, four couples and their families were sent by OneChurch Dover to start a church in Canterbury.
In 2019, the leadership of two churches in Dover felt that God was calling them to merge their churches. At the end of that year, OneChurch Dover was formed. This was an exciting, yet turbulent time. However, the Lead Pastor, Marcus, bravely responded to God prompting him to consider church planting in other locations, despite OneChurch having only recently started itself. In early 2021 a small group of people started to meet to discuss this further and pray about church planting .
At the same time, unaware of what Marcus was doing, Chris (our Senior Leader at Storehouse) began to feel that God was calling him to be in Canterbury. After having this confirmed in a number of different ways, he sat down with Marcus to share what he felt and to explain that this would require him to leave OneChurch in order to attend a church in Canterbury. By now, Marcus was already feeling that God wanted to start something in Canterbury and so invited Chris to attend the meetings with the others who were exploring church planting. Out of those meetings, a smaller group was formed of those who specifically had a heart for Canterbury. Those that felt called to be part of this plant were all serving members of OneChurch, so although this was going to come at a loss to OneChurch, it was clear that God was sending them and Marcus trusted that God would bless OneChurch for their faithfulness in releasing these people to go.
In September 2021, four couples and their families were sent by OneChurch Dover to officially plant a church in Canterbury, and Storehouse Canterbury was launched.
